Do patients need to combine a breast reduction with a breast lift?

Our surgical team incorporates elements of a breast lift into every breast reduction surgery we perform. Because skin must stretch to fit over larger breasts, once volume is removed that extra skin would otherwise leave the breasts sagging, looking older and deflated. By also addressing the skin, we help our patients achieve breasts that are not only more proportional but also more youthful-looking.

What is capsular contracture?

Capsular contracture is a tightening of the scar tissue around a breast implant. At this time, we still do not know what causes this scar tissue to tighten.

How long is recovery after a breast lift?

Discomfort is greatest in the first few days, and most patients are up and around within 3 to 5 days. You will see your surgeon about five to seven days after surgery. Avoid heavy lifting over 25 pounds, vigorous activity, and straining for three weeks.

How long do breast reduction results last?

The fat and tissue removed during a breast reduction is gone permanently, so most patients can expect to enjoy their new contours indefinitely. However, several factors can cause a change in breast volume, including pregnancy/breastfeeding, menopause, and significant weight fluctuation. Our surgical team encourages patients to try to maintain a steady weight to ensure that their breasts remain proportional.
