Fuller, natural curves built from your own fat. The Brazilian Butt Lift uses fat grafting rather than implants to add volume and shape to the buttocks while slimming the areas the fat is taken from. Performed by our board-certified plastic surgeons, Dr. John Reagan Moore and Dr. Konrad Sarosiek, at our Brentwood, TN surgical center.

The Brazilian Butt Lift augments the buttocks using your own fat rather than an implant, which makes it the most natural approach available. Fat is harvested by liposuction from areas where you do not want it and transferred to build a fuller, perkier, more youthful shape. Because the procedure both removes and adds, it improves the balance of your whole figure — the waist and flanks are slimmed as the buttocks are built. It addresses buttocks that are small or flat, sagging, or asymmetrical, and it restores shape lost after significant weight loss.
Surgery is performed under general anesthesia at our Brentwood, TN surgical center. A diluted local anesthetic is also used to reduce bleeding and trauma at the surgical site.
Liposuction is performed through tiny incisions. A thin hollow cannula is inserted and excess fat is removed with a controlled back-and-forth motion, sculpting the donor areas as it goes.
The harvested fat is processed before transfer, which typically involves removing excess oil and water so that what is injected is viable fat with the best chance of surviving.
Syringes are connected to a specialized cannula, and your surgeon adds the fat to the buttocks through many small injections, building the shape gradually and layer by layer rather than in a single deposit.
Your surgeon determines the approach based on your current buttock size and shape, how much fat is available to harvest through liposuction, your goals and activity level, and the quality and elasticity of your skin. In some cases an implant may be used in combination with fat transfer.
Results are visible immediately, but final results take about a year, because it takes time for the transferred fat to establish. Some of the initial volume fades as a portion of the fat is reabsorbed. Weight changes after surgery will change your result, since transferred fat behaves like any other fat in your body.
This is surgery under general anesthesia, with the usual risks of infection, bleeding, and reaction to anesthesia. Fat grafting to the buttocks carries risks specific to it: fat embolism, which is the serious complication that has drawn attention to this procedure nationally, along with asymmetry, contour irregularity, unpredictable graft survival, and fat necrosis. Contemporary practice places fat in the layer above the muscle rather than into it, which is central to reducing that risk. Liposuction at the donor sites carries its own risks of contour irregularity, numbness, and fluid collection. The procedure also demands unusual discipline during recovery — pressure on the buttocks interferes with graft survival — so the sitting restrictions matter to your result as much as to your safety. Your surgeon will review all of this specifically with you at consultation.
