The hands are among the first areas to show age, and they are the hardest to hide. Sun exposure, aging, and genetics all contribute to the change. Hand rejuvenation restores a more youthful appearance by reducing wrinkling, prominent veins, and age spots while improving the tone and texture of the skin. Because the concerns usually appear together — lost volume that makes veins and tendons stand out, alongside sun damage on the surface — the most complete results often come from combining a volume treatment with a skin treatment.
Our practice offers several hand rejuvenation options, both surgical and non-surgical. Your provider will recommend an approach based on whether your concern is volume, skin quality, or both.
Filler restores volume to the back of the hand, softening the appearance of prominent veins and tendons. It is a quick in-office treatment with little downtime and results that last around a year.
Fat harvested from elsewhere on your body is transferred to the hands, restoring volume with your own tissue. A portion of the graft is reabsorbed, but what establishes tends to last considerably longer than filler.
BBL targets sun damage, brown spots, and uneven tone on the back of the hands, and stimulates collagen for better skin quality. Best results usually come from a short series.
Halo resurfacing improves discoloration, fine lines, and overall skin quality on the hands, addressing texture more aggressively than light-based treatment alone.
Downtime varies by approach. Injectable treatments allow an immediate return to normal activity with possible swelling or bruising for a few days. Laser treatment leaves the skin pink and flaking briefly as it renews. Fat transfer involves more swelling and a longer settling period, with final volume apparent after a few months.
Risks depend on the treatment chosen. Filler and fat transfer can cause swelling, bruising, lumpiness, or asymmetry, and fat grafts have unpredictable survival, sometimes requiring a second session. Laser and light treatments carry a risk of pigment change, blistering, or prolonged redness, and are affected by recent sun exposure. Pigment correction is not permanent in the sense that new sun damage will undo it — sun protection is part of the treatment, not an optional extra. Your provider will review the specific risks of your plan before you proceed.
