Lift and volume in a single procedure. For women who want their breasts both fuller and sitting higher, combining a breast lift with implants achieves what neither procedure does alone — performed by our board-certified plastic surgeons, Dr. John Reagan Moore and Dr. Konrad Sarosiek, at our Brentwood, TN surgical center.
If several of these sound like you, a consultation is the right next step. Your provider will confirm candidacy and walk through the plan that fits your goals.

Our Brentwood flagship is home to an onsite surgical facility designed to support patient safety, privacy, comfort, and continuity of care. Having this facility within our practice allows our surgical team to guide patients through a more connected experience, from consultation and preparation to procedure and follow-up.

A breast augmentation and a breast lift can be combined, and frequently are, in one surgery. Occasionally we may recommend splitting them into two surgeries for patients with special circumstances.
Combining mastopexy with augmentation both raises the breast and restores volume — addressing size and position together in one surgery and one recovery. It lifts breasts that sit low on the chest by removing stretched skin and repositioning the breast tissue higher on the torso. It adds the fullness a lift alone cannot, particularly in the upper breast, using an implant chosen for your frame. It repositions nipples that point downward rather than outward, and can reduce an enlarged areola at the same time. It improves symmetry where the breasts differ in size or shape. And because both procedures are done together, there is one anesthesia and one recovery period rather than two.
The procedure is performed under general anesthesia at our Brentwood, TN surgical center. Your surgeon begins with the mastopexy — removing loose skin so the breasts sit higher — then places the implant through the same incisions.
Excess, stretched skin is removed and the remaining breast tissue is reshaped and elevated so the breast sits higher on the chest wall, with the nipple and areola repositioned to a natural height.
Our surgeons use several techniques and select the one that matches the degree of sagging. A periareolar or "donut" approach places the incision around the areola for mild sagging. More often a lollipop lift is used, adding a vertical incision from the areola to the lower breast crease. For advanced sagging, an anchor lift adds a horizontal incision along the crease.
Implants come in a range of sizes, shapes, and textures. Your surgeon reviews the options at consultation, using your measurements and goals to recommend a profile, and one of our nurses helps you try on sizers so you can see the result before surgery. Bringing a favorite top or swimsuit to that appointment helps you visualize the look you want.
The implant is inserted through the lift incisions and positioned behind the nipple, either under the breast tissue or behind the chest muscle, depending on your anatomy and the look you want.
Rest quietly for the first 24 hours and prioritize rest through the first week, wearing your compression bra to reduce swelling and support healing. Most patients feel well enough to return to work within two weeks. Avoid heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling and any vigorous exercise for four to six weeks; walking is fine. Swelling continues to settle over several weeks.
This is surgery performed under general anesthesia, and it carries the risks of both procedures. These include infection, bleeding, and reaction to anesthesia, along with implant-specific risks such as capsular contracture, implant rupture or deflation, rippling, and asymmetry. Changes in nipple or breast sensation are possible and may be temporary or permanent. Scarring is a necessary part of a lift; incision patterns are chosen to place scars where they are least visible, and they fade but do not disappear. Breast implants are not lifetime devices and may need replacement or removal later, and they can make mammogram imaging more difficult, so tell your radiologist you have them. We recommend a mammogram before surgery, and not smoking or taking aspirin for a period your surgeon will specify. Your surgeon will review the risks specific to your anatomy and implant choice at consultation.
Good candidates have breasts that droop lower on the chest and also want them larger, have nipples that point downward rather than outward, or have breasts that are asymmetrical or different sizes. You should be in good general health with realistic expectations. Not everyone needs both procedures — if you are happy with your size but want a younger shape, a breast lift alone may be enough; if you have perky breasts and simply want more volume, breast augmentation alone may be the better fit. Patients who have had children, lost significant weight, or are closer to middle age often see the best transformation from pairing the two.

Breast augmentation and breast lift surgery can both improve breast shape, but they address different concerns. Augmentation adds volume, while a lift raises and reshapes breast tissue that has begun to sag. Some patients benefit from combining the two.
