The most important risk is post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. To reduce it, our providers ask patients to stay out of the sun for at least two weeks after treatment and to maintain constant sunscreen coverage. Less common risks include prolonged redness, temporary lightening or darkening of treated skin, blistering, infection, and scarring. Your provider will review your skin type, medical history, and medications before recommending Halo.
Halo is best suited fall through spring because it resurfaces the surface layer and the skin is more sun-sensitive while it heals. It can be performed year-round with careful post-treatment sun protection. If you want laser treatment during the summer months, Moxi is the option we more often recommend.
Halo delivers two laser wavelengths in the same pass. An ablative wavelength resurfaces a fraction of the damaged outer layer while a non-ablative wavelength travels deeper to trigger collagen repair, correction at two depths in one session.
Sun damage and brown spots, discoloration and uneven tone, large pores, rough uneven skin texture, fine lines and wrinkles, and acne scars and light scarring.
Plan on roughly 90 minutes for numbing and treatment. Topical numbing and patient-controlled nitrous oxide sedation are available.
Because Halo resurfaces the surface layer, it is best scheduled fall through spring.
