BBL Laser (BroadBand Light) in Nashville

Office Also in Brentwood, TN

Overview

As we age, our skin’s collagen begins to diminish while years in the sun and age spots increase and become more prevalent. The Sciton Broadband Light (BBL) Forever Young Photofacial sets a new standard in treating skin conditions associated with aging, acne, loss of firmness, unwanted hair and sun damage. Broadband Light by Sciton is the world’s most powerful Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) that addresses various skin conditions relating to age and sun damage. Utilizing controlled radiant energy to the epidermis and dermis of the skin, this device is able to stimulate collagen while treating several specific aspects of the skin. The light energy delivered by BBL will gently heat the upper layers of your skin. The heat absorbed by the targeted areas will stimulate your skin cells to regenerate. While price is dependent on the area being treated, the most commonly performed full-face treatment is $495. Ask your provider about package pricing options. Treatment time is about 45 minutes. Common treatable areas include the face, chest, neck and hands. There is virtually no downtime with BBL, with the exception of remaining out of the sun two weeks prior as well as following the treatment. The process of BBL treatments will restore your skin to its natural beauty—making it clearer, smoother, vibrant and younger-looking.

Is this Treatment for you?

The best candidates for a BBL treatment is a patient who feels their skin has an uneven appearance, brown spots and is, overall, looking for increased collagen production for younger-looking skin. All patients must remain out of direct sunlight 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after the treatment. Also avoid sunless tanning 4 weeks prior to the treatment. Patients with a Fitzpatrick Scale skin tone 1, 2 or 3 are an ideal tone for this treatment. Patients with a Fitzpatrick Scale skin tone 4 or 5 must pre-treat their skin with medical grade skin care, including a pigment-corrector, retinol product and daily sunscreen. BBL is not appropriate for Fitzpatrick Scale 6 skin tones as complications include hyperpigmentation and hypopigmentation. Your BBL treatment plan will be specifically tailored to match your skin type, tone and desired outcome.

What are your Laser/Light Options at CSPS?

When is the best time to have this treatment?

To reduce risks of hyperpigmentation following the treatment, our providers ask our patients to remain out of the sun for at least two weeks prior to the treatment, two weeks after the treatment and maintain constant sunscreen coverage. Regarding scheduling and frequency, we recommend having a series of 3 treatments initially and then at least 1 treatment per year after for maintenance.

CSPS BBL Experience:

Below is a detailed review of your entire expected BBLexperience with our practice. The more knowledge you have, the more comfortable you are – and that is one of our primary goals.

Scheduling a Consultation

Soon after submitting an online consult request form, you should receive an immediate email confirming your request. Within the next 24 hours, one of our Patient Coordinators will reach out to you to determine what times work best for your consultation. If you prefer to call, they will take your call directly. After your consultation is scheduled, you will receive an additional call confirming your appointment a few days prior. Our Patient Coordinators will make sure you are coming to the correct location and would be happy to answer any pre-visit questions you may have.

Your Consultation

Upon arrival at Cool Springs Plastic Surgery – Brentwood, you will proceed to the third floor. The third floor is where all non-surgical options are housed and our skin care center is located. Upon reaching the third floor, you will be promptly welcomed by a member of our First Impressions Team. You will be checked in and, if necessary, given some additional paperwork to complete. Feel free to choose between various beverages located at the coffee bar in our lobby while you complete New Patient Paperwork (if applicable). Once you have completed all necessary forms, your provider will escort you into a private exam room and ensure that you are comfortable. During your initial consultation, your provider will evaluate your skin, ask questions and assess skin health. They will then review your goals and make recommendations based on their evaluation. The techniques used in BBL treatments will be described in detail, and informational materials will be provided. Be sure to notify them of any medicine you are taking and if you have any allergies, active skin issues, cold sore history or illnesses. Your provider will walk you through any pre and post-treatment instructions to allow for the best results.

Treatment: What to Expect

DURING THE TREATMENT

Prior to beginning your treatment, you will sign consent forms and likely have “before” photos taken to document your skin’s progress. In most cases, the appointment will, in most cases, take about 45 minutes. BBL is often described as a “rubber band snap” on the skin. For patient relief, we offer the option of nitrous oxide sedation (a patient-controlled gas system designed to provide relief from pain or anxiety).

POST-TREATMENT

After the treatment, you will be sent home with post-procedure instructions, including recommended product care to purchase. You may experience some swelling, possible bruising and brown pigment will increase/darken over the next 7-10 days before microscopically sluffing off. Patients can apply makeup immediately following the treatment.
