Facial Contouring Options

It’s no secret, wrapping up a year filled with Zoom meetings and Facetime calls, that facial contouring and shaping options continue to take the cosmetic surgery industry by storm. Fortunately, our practice offers a variety of surgical and non-surgical options to sharpen the profile and rid of excess fullness or loose skin based on your anatomy and depending on your procedure preference (downtime, non-invasive, price range, etc.).

Kybella

Also known as Deoxycholic acid, Kybella is the first FDA-approved treatment to reduce the appearance of a double chin. Kybella is a synthetic, injectable substance identical to the chemical our bodies naturally produce to absorb fat cells. According to a survey conducted by the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, 68% of respondents were unhappy with submental fat, or excessive fullness under the chin. Used to treat moderate-to-severe submental fat, Kybella can help reduce fullness. After several studies and two clinical trials, 70% of those tested reported an improvement in both physical and emotional wellness.

So how does it work? Kybella is administered through small injections in the submental fat tissue. Up to 3-4 sessions may be needed, with each session being scheduled 6 weeks apart. Patients with greater volume may require more sessions. Results using Kybella are quick and long-lasting, with reductions in submental fat appearing six weeks after treatment. Unlike other treatments, results from using Kybella last for years, usually without further need for touch-ups. Keep reading about Kybella.

Chin/Neck Liposuction

Often utilized for the chin/neck area, liposuction can provide a more refined contour to the face. This minimally invasive, little downtime procedure benefits those who have isolated deposits of fat, that may be an inherited trait and potentially not be responding to dieting or exercise. The process surgically removes fat at a superficial level beneath the skin through well-hidden incisions. Patients often look years younger or as though they have lost weight post-procedure (great option following all of the holiday feasts). Neck contouring can also help restore balance to facial features, while providing a more defined jawline. Keep reading about Chin/Neck Liposuction.

CoolSculpting

CoolSculpting is the only FDA-approved, non-surgical fat-reduction treatment that uses controlled cooling to eliminate stubborn fat resistant to diet and exercise. Losing weight makes fat cells smaller, whereas CoolSculpting eliminates the fat cells altogether. This non-invasive procedure requires no downtime or recovery, allowing patients to return to their day as planned – whether that be the gym, work, home or traveling. This treatment is safe for all ages but is ideal for those interested in body contour and are between 15-20 pounds of their goal weight, however, are unable to reduce fat in certain stubborn areas. The process of eliminating up to 25% of the targeted fat cells works by applying the applicator to the chin area – depending on your personalized plan, you will then sit while the freezing begins for 35 minutes or more. Your room has a television so you can watch shows during your treatment, take a nap, work, read, talk on the phone, etc. Keep reading about CoolSculpting.
