Most patients return to desk work in about a week and resume full activity over several weeks. We provide a personalized recovery plan with close follow-up.
Breast augmentation is surgery performed under general anesthesia, and risks include infection, bleeding, and reaction to anesthesia. Implant-specific risks include capsular contracture (tightening of scar tissue around the implant), implant rupture or deflation, rippling, and asymmetry. Changes in nipple or breast sensation are possible and may be temporary or permanent. Breast implants are not lifetime devices and may require replacement or removal in the future. Implants can also make mammogram imaging more difficult, so tell your radiologist you have them. Your surgeon will review the risks specific to your anatomy and implant choice at consultation.

Both are FDA-approved. Silicone gel feels a bit more like natural breast tissue; saline provides a uniform shape, firmness and feel, and can be placed through a smaller incision. Saline is FDA-approved for augmentation at 18 or older, silicone at 22 or older. Note that breast implants are not considered lifetime devices — the longer you have them, the greater the chance of needing additional surgery. Your surgeon will recommend the best option for your goals and anatomy.

We use sizing systems and your measurements to help you visualize results. We focus on proportion to your frame for a natural, balanced look — not just a number.
Most patients are up and around within 3 to 5 days, and you’ll see your surgeon about five to seven days after surgery. Avoid heavy lifting over 25 pounds, vigorous activity, and straining for three weeks — most patients are cleared to get their heart rate up at around three weeks, depending on individual healing. Your chest will feel tight for four to eight weeks until the chest muscles relax. See our Breast Augmentation Post-Op Instructions for full details.
Most women can still breastfeed after augmentation, though it is not guaranteed. We will discuss your plans for future pregnancies and the best approach at your consultation.
